Don’t hit snooze
Tempting, I know. But when your alarm goes off, get up and make the most of the day. Hitting snooze and floating back off to sleep is actually doing your body more harm than good.
Make your bed
The state of your bed is the state of your head. Nothing like clean sheets and a freshly made bed. Especially at the end of the day - much nicer to finish the day climbing into a nicely made bed than a pile of sheets and blankets and pillows zzz
Start your day with a stretch. It feels great, helps you to wake up properly, and gets the circulations pumping.
Leave your phone alone
Make a rule not to have phones in the bedroom. Wake up and start the day making it all about you.. Not what's happening on your phone or social media pages. You have all day to check Facebook. I recommend turning push notifications off where you can.
Let some natural light in
I love to wake up in the morning and lift the blinds, especially if it's sunny. Let the light in, look at the blue sky, the green trees, take a deep breath and be grateful.
One of the best things you can do upon waking is to drink a large glass of water. While sleeping, you have gone 7–8 hours without drinking and although you might not feel thirsty, your body slowly becomes dehydrated. Water first thing in the morning re-hydrates you, fires up your metabolism, flushes out toxins, gives your brain fuel and can make you eat less.
Starting your day with positivity and mindfulness will have you off on the right foot. Use daily inspiration cards to set the right intentions for the day ahead. Some people like to write a quick not of 3 things they are grateful for.
Put some music on
Music is good for the soul. Put some tunes on (maybe not heavy metal) and enjoy!
Exercising first thing in the morning sets a healthy tone for the rest of your day, the rush of endorphin's you feel after a workout boost both your energy and your mood. It also improves productivity and provides you with better sleep.
